>I have Win 2000 Pro but am planning to buy a new pc with XP Pro. I am wondering... When you set up different user profiles (I don't know if this is the right term, though), can I make one profile "lighter" than others? Here is what I mean by "lighter". When I install VFP 6,8,9 and a bunch of other "routine" software I use (even SQL Server) on Win XP pro, can I select to install them only in my main user profile and not to have them in "other" user profiles? When I go to make presentations to prospective customers, I would like to have the pc load faster and not to have a million icons on the desktop (as I have right now, since I only have one user in Win 2000).

You can have multiple users in WIn2K. It's not specific to Win2K.
A software can be installed either per user or per-machine. IOW, it's either for one user or all users. Most current software has a dialog that asks you about that.
