Has anyone got any experience with this type of problem?

We have created several MM based business objects that update our SQL server 2000. The business objects or coordinated by a winform. The form is used to convert data from an existing database to a new data structure in a new database on a new server.

The problem we are having is consistent behavior. The program will run fine for several hours converting a great deal of data and writing it to the server when suddenly the server stops responding.

The only symptom on the server side is a spike of the Disk Que Length. We don't appear to be using much of the processor. It just won't right any information.

In attempt to eliminate possible we have starte using SQL authintication and the IP address in our connection strings. (Didn't help)

Stepping through the code hasn't revealed a problem.

Slowing down the process and reducing the number of clients running hasn't helped. The server just appears to stop liking us. Has anybody seen this behavior before?

If I had an elephant I'd trade it for an answer. I'd give a free elephant ride for a good idea that points me in the right direction.
