This has ocurred throughout history. I do not recall in the past the party with the minority while the majority shared the same party as the President declaring that Congress was run like a Plantation though...

Look at:

Monroe
Lincoln
FDR
Teddy Roosevelt
McKinley
Jefferson
Madison
Kennedy
LBJohnson
Jackson
Carter

I think all of the above controlled both the House and the Senate the majority of the time they were in office.

>but from a report i read recently, about a month ago, the viewership figures for fox are on the increase, especially the news programmes, and that is most definatley a very biased channel. as i live in ireland i don't watch US channels but i do read online editions of cnn, latimes, nytimes and ocasional others and i have noticed a shift towards democratic viewpoints in the last 12-18 months compared to the 2 or so years up to that.
>i do agree that it is not the best thing for a public figure to say but i don't think that it is entirely baseless. i am sure that there is corruption in all the parties, power does corrupt, but right now the rep's are the ones geting caught and they are not unknown backbenchers as we would call then but leading figures in both the party and on committees. when this sort of abuse of power is unearthed, and it goes on in all countries on all sides in my opinion, people are going to draw comparisons. these politicians and those around them gained money, holidays and so on from certain individuals and companies for not doing what they were supposed to be doing, looking after what is the best for those under their care. when you abuse those under you by taking advantage of them it is easy to draw comparisions to slave owners who took advantage of those under them for their own benefit.

>>>i agree that the comparison is over the top but then in this media age you have to really go over the top to get your message noticed sometimes especially in what appears to be a republican controlled media. from one point of view if you take GB as the plantation owner then he pretty much does what he wants regardless of the legal side of things which is what plantation owners used to do, so there are some grounds for comparison.

>>Republican-controlled media? I would beg to differ:

>>Our results show a strong liberal bias. All of the news outlets except Fox News’ Special Report and the Washington Times received a score to the left of the average member of Congress. And a few outlets, including the New York Times and CBS Evening News, were closer to the average Democrat in Congress than the center. These findings refer strictly to the news stories of the outlets. That is, we omitted editorials, book reviews, and letters to the editor from our sample.

>>Hillary Clinton has no need to make such inflamatory statements to get noticed. It was irresponsible and baseless.
