Try checking the nObjectContinuationType parameter and conditionally calling DODEFAULT(). IOW ... don't render the object if this is a continuation.
Also .. go back and look at the report definition and see if the shape is defined to print when the band content overflows to a new page. If so, uncheck that option. That may be all you need to solve this problem.
