That is funny because there really is a military term 'Acting Sergeant.' It actually means a specialist (E-4) or Corporal (E-4) that has assumed the role and responsibility of a Sergeant but not the pay yet. :o) No, for me it became handy when I became an interrogator. A LOT of acting in that job.
