>You mean Goran, right? I believe he is from Sibenik, Croatia (Yugoslavia). I actually saw a tv interview with him done in Sarajevo. It was mostly about changes the area has seen (before,during,after the war). He was a paratrooper in the Yugoslavian People's Army and fought in Slovenia. Supposedly his brother took his spot for awhile (don't know if that is true). After Croatia declared independence he volunteered for the new Croatian Army.
Accidentally, Šibenik (shibbenick would be the way to pronounce it) is where I served my term as a YPA conscript. I wish I could visit the place again (not the barracks - the city).
That was about ten years before the ex-Yu wars. It was obvious then that the locals didn't really like to see anyone in uniform, but then if such one was hunted by the military police, suddenly doors would open and the guys would magically vanish through passages and narrow backstreets :). IOW, they didn't really like the army, but they despised the MP.
