It has nothing to do with the Gateway machine, it's the processor speed that's at fault. Start with this KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q171/0/47.asp

There is a third party utility that slows down the machine enough till the code can be ported to VFP where the problem doesn't exist. Here's a link to it http://www.vss-inc.com/slowstart.html
