Just because one loves a certain tool, does not mean that it's the best tool choice for every scenario. Peggy stated in her request that the goal was to create games. Now, while VFP is a great tool for building data-driven applications, it does have some weak points. And among them are UI and (in general) game development. That's not to say games can't be written in VFP. Enough posts have been made to prove that and I've written my share of them. But, just because something can be done doesn't mean that it's the best choice. Given the circumstances stated in the original request, I would not recommend VFP as the best choice for her purposes. I think Tracy's idea was a good one about Flash.

In saying that, I do have any ill will towards VFP or the Fox community. I use VFP everyday and have been using Fox/VFP for over a decade. It is a great tool when used for what it's great at -- data. Beyond that, you really are trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. I find it very humerous that many developers become blind to the benefit of other tools. At my last job, we said it this way:

To a child with a hammer, everything is a nail.

If the problem is putting a screw into a piece of wood, you can indeed use a hammer, but a screwdriver is the proper and more effective tool.
