This is a very strange error and I wonder if anyone has an answer. I fear my PC might have picked up something nasty but everything else seems fine and a virus scan found nothing.

I got an error loading an .FLL when I started work this morning on a project I have been working on for months now. I had not run the program since late last week but nothing had changed as I had been working on a totally separate project the past few days.

I have confirmed that this is the same .FLL I have been using all along by restoring from a 2 week old backup and doing a binary FC between the restored file and the one in my development folder. I replaced the .FLL in the development folder from the backup and got the same error. This .FLL has worked for some time now and is loaded every time the program starts.

This morning the program hang for about 10 seconds and then the line:
set library to vfpencryption.fll additive
Gave the error:
Library file g:\jpos\vfpencryption.fll is invalid.
A DIR of the .FLL shows: 09/12/2005 08:41 PM 125,440 vfpencryption.fll

I looked around and found a different version I got in the downloads from the SouthWest Fox Conference : 09/27/2005 07:25 PM 122,880 vfpencryption.fll

As you can see the SW Fox version is smaller and two weeks newer.

I replaced the old version with the SW Fox version. It runs just fine and the decrypt works on all the data that was encrypted buy the older version. One of the normal MS Windows updates happened about a week ago but I’m pretty sure I have run the program since then. I did the VFP 9 update a while back as soon as it came out.

The program now works fine but what could have caused the .FLL to suddenly become invalid after working for some number of months. As I said, I have confirmed beyond any doubt that it is the same .FLL file I had run for some time.
TIA
