Hi John,
I can only speak for myself and for the lessons I am learning from my children. First I believe that to understand this you must first “Free your Mind” of your limitations and realize that the limitation which we all have in one or other areas our lives, just mean that we need to look at the problem from a different perspective. I have a son who at the age of one years old and had never seen me use a screwdriver, picked up a screwdriver and unscrewed screws from the cabinets in our house as if he has been doing it for at least 5-10 years. After my amazement wore off I had to take the screwdriver from him. I understand that the normal perceptions for a 1 year old is that its not possible for a child to be able to do that. Then at the age of 1 ½ he watch me for 2 minutes looking through a glass door and at a distance of 25 feet, change out the spark plug and complete a quick tuneup of a lawn mower. Then when he came outside and he proceeded to do exactly what I had done to the lawn mower including taking out the spark plug out of the lawn mower using a ratchet ( which he has never seem me use).
I had a problem understanding how to incorporate Com automation into my VFP application until I went to a conference where Menachem Bazian was presenting the topic and after the sessions presentation we spoke and I stated that, I still did not understand. Menachem and I agreed to meet during the lunch break and he would show me how. Menachem pulled out his portable and gave me a quick demo of the idea in a different way than he presented in the session and I immediately understood how to use the technique and have been using it ever since. By the way, thank you again Menachem. I believe that, as a father one of my responsibilities is to teach my children to do what ever they want. Yes that includes showing them the right way to accomplish the task they want. So if there is another child who could learn why not show it how. Just remember when you want to learn something how you did it.

So Free your Mind

Andy
