Has anyone ever seen a utility (DLL, ActiveX control, etc.) to do programmatic screen captures?

Basically, I need for the user to be able to export the active form to a picture type (BMP, etc.). Someone gave me some very good code that basically read every pixel by doing a FORM.POINT(x,y) and then writing out a BMP format. The problem was that the specific form I want to export hosts a Crystal Reports Preview Window, and FORM.POINT(x,y) returns a -1 when it reads over the preview window area. Crystal Reports itself does not have options to export report preview images.

If such a utility doesn't exist, I've told our users that they can export regions of a screen using HiJaak, Snag-It, etc. But obviously having that capability in the software would be pretty cool.
