Here are some questions\suggestions:

What kind of SQL Login does your application use? Is it a specific SQL Server Login or Windows Authentication?
If its a SQL Login check that the SQL Server you are installing on is not set to just use trusted connections, right click on the server and check the properties.
If thats OK then try loging in using the account into something like Query Analyser, see if you can then log in.
Are you deploying the App and Database or just the app and then pointing that app back at your database?
