I'm looking for any information about the file structure of the Vue file which is created by the Create View command.

I know a lot of people may not see the point in working with these but I have my reasons with limited purpose.

At the least I need to be able to better understand the header, and locate the position and size of the Default folder path. Since all other paths are stored relative to that and if I can update the value for the default path, then I can make it portable for my purposes...

Below is More insight as was prompted on another forum...

Okay to provide a little background as to what I'm trying to do. I understand the limitations and why most people might choose not to use a view. However, I'm not most people... hehe I've been a foxhead for about 10 years or so, I started out with fox2.6 for dos.

I work in a software development firm. We have seven (7) products which are all integrated together. Needless to say we have a lot of tables in our system. Sometimes our Technical Support department has to call on us programmers for support. Often times it's a data problem. We can see the problem in the UI, my next usual step is to say okay, now what do the relations tell me.

I have some named prgs that I use for some situations to open all the necessary tables and set the relations, but it's a rather unwieldy process having to write another program every time I've got a new common situation that I need to call back up.

My thinking was to use the view (vue) as a much simpler means, I can use one, tweak it a bit and make a new one out of it. The primary problem with views in what I'm trying to do is that it maintains the default path setting. If you look inside a view file you'll see that all paths contained to tables and such are relative to that path. When you set a view it begins with restoring what the default folder was. Then it opens and sets everything else.

What I need to do is to develop a utility that I can use to set the default path inside the vue file. Then when I set view to PaySchedules.vue it will load from the perspective of the appropriate client data folder. In essence, if I can modify the Default Path, then I can make it at least portable for my purposes. It would be a most useful tool in helping to provide quicker and more efficient data analysis when I'm called on this for our support staff.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...
