Terry,
Well apparently I hit an Open Nerve. You should know a little more about me before you start your personal attacks on my character and skill set. I'm an application developer just like you, well maybe not just like you my kids have given me a bit of gray hair <g>. I have and probably will always turn down management positions in favor of positions where I can write code. I happily spend the bulk of my time coding either at work or at home (you would be amazed at what you can do with an X10 home automation kit and API and a little time <g>). The only thing in your reply more foolish than your personal "digs" is your MS SQL comments. I've written software for that 90% of the market you mentioned, in VFP , VB4-6 , and YES VB.Net. Who ever told you that you had to use MS SQL in order to write solutions in .Net? The fact is that you can connect it to almost anything. Heck with Mono--you don't even have to have Windows.
I too have legacy Fox 2.x code out at client sites, it does its job exactly the way it was designed to and its still going strong. But I haven't had one client ask me to design a new application in Fox 2.6.
I couldn't help but notice the comment at the bottom of your reply:
"Imagination is more important than knowledge " Well apparently this holds true for your most of your reply. If you want to stick your head in the sand and make it all go away that's fine with me. Who knows, if you push far enough down you might find VFP 10 or 11 but I wouldn't count on it.
When I'm not tapping keys I'm usualy tinkering in my garage, I have a tool box there. When I open it it contains many tools, not just one.
