In the C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\ADO folder, is a file called Msado15.dll. If you click the right mouse and choose properties, you can find the version. Don't be fooled by the name of the file. Version 2.0 and Version 1.5 are named the same. Don't ask me why...

My current version is 2.0.2911.0. I suspect you have version 1.5 of ADO. This is your problem. You need version 2.0, which will ship with VS 6.0. It will also ship with IE.
