Based on our conversations over the years, I think you would enjoy living in Canada, weather aside.

BC still funds all eye exams for people under 18 and over 65. As well medically necessary exams are covered for all ages (disease, trauma...). The ones that aren't covered when people decide they want an eye exam. For example, if you go to your family doctor because of headaches and she does a quick eye check and refers you do an eye doctor, the visit to the eye doctor is free.
