>I noted the same reference. However, there are other API functions that refer to "resource" which mean file, or loaded window's resource (handle). While the function documentation doesn't specifically mention .BMPs, it does mention .EXEs as well as loaded resources. Given that, I would say that it's at least worth a try. About the only thing that can happen is that the function will fail.

LoadBitmap didn't seem to do the trick at all. But once I found my Technet CD I found atricle Q158898 which gives a (lengthy) example using LoadImage.
Once i've translated it and tested it I'll let you know what happens.
