While the function documentation doesn't specifically mention .BMPs, it does mention .EXEs as well as loaded resources. Given that, I would say that it's at least worth a try. About the only thing that can happen is that the function will fail.

LoadBitmap didn't seem to do the trick at all. But once I found my Technet CD I found atricle Q158898 which gives a (lengthy) example using LoadImage.

Once i've translated it and tested it I'll let you know what happens.
