Way to go your bank!
One thing that puzzles me: the strange, almost euphemistic expressions that come out of the USA:
Eminent domain - I presume that is what we call compulsory purchase, but it sounds like someone's posh house on a hill.
Manifest destiny - What happens to a ship's list of cargo at the end of the voyage?
Extreme prejudice - kill anyone who's not like me?
Extraordinary rendition - a jolly good version of someone else's song?
>The city I live near just annexed 42,000 county residents past September. During the process, my brother in law had his property confiscated through eminent domain. First time they offered him 35% of the current market value. Then they assessed 65% depreciation. It is a crazy business. You can eventually get a fair market value if you hire a lawyer and then he takes 33% so you still only get 67% of the fair market value.
