>>By the way cause of the Franco-Prussian War was Otto Von Bismark, creator of the German Empire. He wanted to unite the German States under Prussia and did so.

>According to "First Reich" this was an effect, not a cause. I think both sides were itching to have at each other. France issued some ultimatims regarding Hohenzollern candidates for the Spanish throne, Bismark published them, and France declared war over it.

>But the animosity between France and the various German states goes way back, at least as far as the Wars of Austrian Succession, probably back to the 30 Years War. France was - IMHO - a bit of a bully state, and thought they had the right to dictate Continental European policies.

Dan;

The First Reich - The Holy Roman Empire began in the 9th century and finished in the 19th century.

The Second Reich - 1871 to 1919

And we know about the Third Reich

There was or is a movement called “The Fourth Reich” which I became aware of in the Fall of 1953. I was eleven and we had a new student introduced to the class. His name was Conrad and he was from Germany. Conrad was fourteen, tall and blond with blue eyes. Being eleven in those days involved playing with friends and classmates.

Conrad would come to us and invite us to become members of “The Fourth Reich”. We had no clue what he was talking about, so we would just continue playing.

One day the police came to our classroom (5th grade) and said that Conrad, his mother and father had been arrested attempting to overthrow the United States. They had a basement filled with weapons we were told.
