I'd say you (the U.S.) should be concerned. And to a limited extent I think President Bush has shown some consideration of that in his foreign dealings since the war of Iraq.
A critical reason you (U.S. citizens) should ALL be concerned is that you are the only super-power on the planet and how you use that power is determinant of how others view you and work with you.
You *could* use your power to just go take what you want, like maybe oil from Iraq. Then possibly oil from Iran, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Nigeria, Canada, etc. But by the time you started on Iran the world would essentially ostracize you and you would find yourselves wanting far more than just the oil you originally needed (because most all else of what you want/need is now made in China).
I am convinced that the huge HUGE majority of American citizens wouldn't countenance anything like I described above, but if your leadership did you (collectively) would be faced with either telling the leadership to not do it, or support them.
