>>>So, you've done well getting assimilated. Like us here. A nephew is now re-entering the Amsterdam Jews community. He even married in the synagogue a couple of years ago. That was the first real time for me there. My father has been there many times in his childhood, but he's an atheist and so am I. We are completely assimilated and sometimes I wish all jews would've gone that route. On the other side, there are traditions that are 'nice' and heartbreaking and need to be kept alive. It's kind of a dilemma.

>I must admit, I'm not much of a 'roots' person. If there is any hope for humanity, as far as I'm concerned, it's not in emphasizing our differences, it's in assimilation. Someday when (if) we're all king of a grayish brown and speaking esperanto, the world may finally be a place where we can all get along.

>Thats not to say, I'd want to live there. ;)

That's a respectful opinion, but I don't want it. At least that's how I feel in that particular moment of my life...
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
