Actually I did find reference to the issue/bug.

Article ID: Q110120: This article mentions the bug and it's legacy of managing to exist throught the life of Foxpro ( 2.xxxxxx ) without extermination.

Article ID: Q123721: This article admits that the bug exists in 3.0b, but that it was fixed in 5.0 - yeah right!

I resolved it by removing the title band! Now _pageno works correctly.
