>>I say, go back in your memory and search for the very moment that someone told you to trust in God and His word.

>Good point! I was raised in a Christian home - and - yes, my parent did teach me to believe in the Bible. The decision to do so was entirely my own. I am not trusting in the word of my parents or the word of my Pastors - but in the word of God - as introduced to me by them. I do a very thorough job of checking out just about everything I hear from the pulpit to be sure it is in line with what the Bible teaches. The Bible is the standard - not my parents - and not my Pastors.

So it was your own decision and that's for you obviously an important factor. I imagine that you do not really care about my fate. Afterall, I'm far away. But suppose I am your neighboor. Would you care more then about my soul? And suppose I am your cousin. Or even closer, your brother.
I imagine you have one or more children. If this is right, you probably tell each kid about God and the bible, but leave the decision to believe it all to him/her. Suppose the child decides not to believe it all... what are the consequences for the personal relationship, as your child will not go to Heaven, but to Hell.

And this is another thought I got, reading your reply: Don't you ever find it difficult to interpret the Bible? I mean, it is renowned for being multi-interpretable. There is so much debate between religeous people about how to interpret a certain paragraph.

>>Good reply. On the other hand, how can a theist not believe in the God(s) as brought to our attention in 99,9 percent of the religions.

>First, I'd question the 99.9% number...but that's not really important. As a theist (one who believes in a god,) I choose to believe in the God of the Bible - who explicitly forbids serving other gods. Don't know how else to answer that one...

Constructive frustration is the breeding ground of genius.
If there’s no willingness to moderate for the sake of good debate, then I have no willingness to debate at all.
Let's develop superb standards that will end the holy wars.
"There are three types of people: Alphas and Betas", said the beta decisively.
