Has anyone heard of this controversy? In Islam, it is forbidden to create a depiction of Muhammad because it may lead to idol worship.

In Judaism, the word God is written because it is considered disrespectful, but (as far as I can tell) they don't object to other people from writing the word God. BTW, you will see Jewish texts use G-d.
