This is just a suggestion which I hope will be generally useful.

I was thinking if you can put in buttons on the message compose page like the one I am typying in. Buttons to keyboard < pre > < /pre >, < i > < /i >, message #, thread #, download #, etc.

Hope the idea is acceptable.
