In C, the backslash character is called an escape character. Thus, in order to actually put a slash in code, you have to preceded it with another slash.

If you ask, "What does this have to do with VFP" ... I would respond with, "What language do you think VFP is written in?" Some Windows functions, since they are written in C, require the "double slash," and some do not.

It may be the case that the particular VFP function you are using was coded in such a way that it could function either way.
