>>So it was your own decision and that's for you obviously an important factor. I imagine that you do not really care about my fate. Afterall, I'm far away. But suppose I am your neighboor. Would you care more then about my soul? And suppose I am your cousin. Or even closer, your brother.
>>I imagine you have one or more children. If this is right, you probably tell each kid about God and the bible, but leave the decision to believe it all to him/her. Suppose the child decides not to believe it all... what are the consequences for the personal relationship, as your child will not go to Heaven, but to Hell.

>I care about your soul now - otherwise I would not be spending this time with you!

>I do have four children. If one or all of them should choose to reject God, that would have a negative impact on our relationship. If they lived a life that was under control, we could still have contact and I would still want to see them and spend time with them. If their life was a life of obvious, outward rebellion, I would need to disassociate myself from them. While I would still love them and would still allow them into my home on occasion, I would not spend as much time with them. In either case, the time I would spend with them would spent sharing the gospel and asking them to repent. Above all, I would pray for them and ask God to change their heart.

I don't know their ages. Do you force them to pray? Do you allow or even stimulate them to make a choice of their own? Is there an implicit or explicit pressure upon them to choose for your God of the Bible? Do you discuss the Bible, or is it enough to explain the Bible? (The Jews discuss their holy book, rather than explain it.)

How about people who have never been able to convert to your Bible, either because they live in the bushes of the Amazone, or because they are born in an entirely different religeous setting, or because they lived before the Book was written, or because they are imbecile? Will they really all go to Hell?

How bad is it actually in Hell?

>>And this is another thought I got, reading your reply: Don't you ever find it difficult to interpret the Bible? I mean, it is renowned for being multi-interpretable. There is so much debate between religeous people about how to interpret a certain paragraph.

>While most of the Bible is easily interpreted, there are passages that are difficult. Most of the time, these difficult passages are not of primary concern - meaning - they do not affect ones salvation. There is room for differing viewpoints on most of these issues.

You seem to be very happy with that Book. It is your book of all answers to the fundamental questions about life, moral and death. Whenever you are confronted with quests like the ones I have posed, you take your Bible, look for an appropriate passage and there it is: "the answer!". You even succeed to 'explain' the fact that it can be interpreted in multiple ways. The circle seems to be round. I admit, it is a handy way of solving things. Rather than looking up what several parties have to say about it, you stick to that one Book's words. But isn't it a bit too easy? I mean, isn't it a trick afterall, not really an indication of a longing to search the truth?

Constructive frustration is the breeding ground of genius.
If there’s no willingness to moderate for the sake of good debate, then I have no willingness to debate at all.
Let's develop superb standards that will end the holy wars.
