I was at the gym during lunch. A tv there was tuned to a cable channel that shows government meetings. The topic today was a breakfast on faith. Bono from U2 was speaking.

The premise of his talk was how some have hijacked religion to preach hatred and distrust of each other, based on beliefs. He cited biblical references from the old, new testament and from the koran. All the passages discussed helping the poor, or helping each other.

I have no sympathy for someone who feels they are better then me because of their religious beliefs. Maybe not them, but someone from their group only has to take a couple baby steps and they now have minimized my existence because I don't share their beliefs.

It discusts me to see someone rationalize everything as is occurring here to support his beliefs. He has been brainwashed to ignore his pitiful life to instead place himself on a pedestal.

There was another religious nut here who works for Naval warfare. He preaches religion yet helps to produce weapons that kills 10s or hundreds of people at a single clip. And rationalizes it as providing defense of the US. Killing all sorts of unborn children, children of all ages, wifes, daughters, etc. with these weapons is somehow okay in his mind.

Religion should be all about helping.
