>Of course as a dutch citizen knew this, but my case is that specifically the US were dragged into WWII rather than they did liberate europe because they were our allies at the beggining of the war. I have great respect for all people who liberated europe. In fact just before the 60th anniversary of the liberation in may 2005 I was at Toronto Pearson airport taking a flight back home. There were a lot of Canadian veterans taking a flight to europe. I'll always remeber those two old verterans who must have been in their 80's sitting to the opposite of me. I respectfully saluted them. They smiled back and appreciated the intention.

>Walter,
Hi Walter,
I understand. I just wanted to make the distinction between the U.S. and Canada at the start of the war. Sometimes being a mouse like Canada, we feel the need to try to roar to make sure we aren't squashed inadvertently by the elephant living next door.
I have NO doubt that you and your fellow Dutch citizens are very respectful and greatful for the allies' help during the war. In fact, the way you treat of *our* veterans puts much of our own citizens' efforts to shame.
Regards,
Ed
