I have great respect for all people who liberated europe. In fact just before the 60th anniversary of the liberation in may 2005 I was at Toronto Pearson airport taking a flight back home. There were a lot of Canadian veterans taking a flight to europe. I'll always remeber those two old verterans who must have been in their 80's sitting to the opposite of me. I respectfully saluted them. They smiled back and appreciated the intention.

Hi Walter,
I understand. I just wanted to make the distinction between the U.S. and Canada at the start of the war. Sometimes being a mouse like Canada, we feel the need to try to roar to make sure we aren't squashed inadvertently by the elephant living next door.

I have NO doubt that you and your fellow Dutch citizens are very respectful and greatful for the allies' help during the war. In fact, the way you treat of *our* veterans puts much of our own citizens' efforts to shame.
