French for meal is "repas", an archaic English word is "repast"

Yes, it seems weird doesn't it, as the word "ante" usually means "before" (yes I know it's the stake in poker too :-)

I remember the "Fabulous Fury Freak Brothers" on a trip to Mexico getting confused as to the meaning of "alto" - Halt, High?
