I was asking in more of a company wide policy to not allow null (never) regardless of the situation. Even in cases where a field is not required you can't have nulls - in that case you'd accept an empty string, 0 or -1 where ints belong, etc...

I just don't see that advantage of not allowing nulls in on some occasions - but maybe I'm missing it.
