And despite all of my will to be balanced and point out that other religions aren't much better, this reaction of the Muslim world to a simple cartoon... proves the cartoon's point. It's very hard to defend, even on principle, someone with such lack of a sense of humor.

I mean, if someone here found "Try Jesus" on a bumper sticker, followed by "and prepare the rope" - would anyone be offended?

While I can understand the frustration of the Arab world with their experience with the West for the last few hundred years, I really can't find any understanding for this sort of intolerance and goading the masses into attack.
