Thought I'd start in this forum with this question.

To start, I've not used codemine. Just that I here it's one of the best framework's available. I have a friend who swears by it. He just sent me an app to look at. It looks very professional, so I'm impressed.

I have a collegue who is one of those, if I didn't build it, it couldn't be good types. He went to the owners of the company I'm contracting at now (non-technical people) and convinced them the quality of the apps developed here could be much better if the basis of the apps is a framework he's developing.

I'm going to have a chance to evaluate the progress of his work next week. So I'm looking for suggestions of areas I could critique his work on.

As a background, I'm not happy that he feels he could develop a professional quality framework in a short time by himself. He also does some very non-standard stuff. He feels UI development is a drag. So you don't use the UI with his framework. You point to a table and his framework designs the UI. He's also the only person I've ever heard of who is using VFP's editor to do .Net work. He never uses the .Net UI.

I've tried to tell the powers that be that a problem right out of the gate is trying to develop a framework at the same time app development is taking place. But that's not enough for their purposes.

Any other amunition would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Pf
