I want to move my production SQL server from SQL2000 to SQL2005. I want to know if this will work. We are getting new hardware and I want to move from old box (32 bit) to new box (64 bit) and end up with the same instance name on the new box.
1. Upgrade svrSqlProduction (old instance) to SQL2005.
2. Backup all data on old instance.
3. Restore all data to svrSqlProductionNew (new 64 bit box)
4. Kill svrSqlProduction (old instance)
5. Rename svrSqlProductionNew to svrSqlProduction (new instance)

Anyone see any problems with this?

TIA
John
