David,
Seems to me it would be easy to zip up the files and store the zip file as a binary. Then your application could unzip the files if you need them. I have an application that has as many as 18 databases (Sybase ASA) that syncs the data throughout the company. I store the FoxPro EXE file as a blob in the database to distribute new updates. Works well so I don't see a problem with a zip file or even the FRXs either.
>Has anyone ever tried saving FRX and FRT files in some kind of SQL Server binary fields and reconstituting them to disk when needed?

>We have a central SQL Server cluster, but have the app's FRXs (including those created on a regular basis by users through the QueryMaker part of our app) stored in a folder on an app server. There is a backup app server always ready to be turned on, but it's not clustered or automatically kept in sync.

>How about it? Anyone got an idea?
