Wow, I never heard that story before. I didn't realize how close VFP came to ending. I'm glad it didn't. I didn't really make the leap from Fox 2.x until VFP 6 was released. My career/life would have taken a completely different path if it wasn't there.

>Yes, Tod was one of the key people at Microsoft involved in driving the purchase of Fox Software in 1992. Tod had a meeting with the VFP team in early 1996 announcing the end of Visual FoxPro. I was in the meeting, I recall he was rather emotional about it but nobody knew how sincere he was. Some other meetings followed and it was decided that it was best to continue with developing and release VFP 6.0, which Microsoft did in 1998. Here are are 10 years later almost to the day of that meeting with Tod, and we have shipped 4 new complete versions of VFP since then and are still working on enhancements for VFP. When I heard about Tod joining Borland as the CEO, I considered sending him a copy of VFP 9.0. :)
