Hi Fabio,

that works if you REALLY need unbuffered files - otherwise just change the FOPen -
still easier than to create a functional wrapper and let code references do most of the work.

My "not pretty" was mental shorthand for:
Nowadays I use low level file very seldom, usually I work directly on a filetostring or alines(laL, filetostring()). But the way the code is misbehaving is worrying me: any "old code" not explicitely checking for certain occurences / textmarkers will probably fail "silently" and the program will progress with wrong data. Sometimes a crash is nicer - you are sure to notice something is broken <g>.
