Thank you for reminding me about this Doug (I have the original FoxTalk article lurking somewhere) This is still a good method and I will use it in the absence of anything else.
I had been half wondering whether anything suitable for my needs had been added in the new reporting stuff in VFP 9. But I guess most of the new stuff is aimed at later stages in the reporting process i.e. outputting and previewing rather than creating the report layout itself.
