>>>>We have Loto Quebec over here to make sure that it's legal. I'm sure there a safe place in Ontario. Come on Jim don't excuse his actions or the actions of others that want to live on the dark side. I guess it's a matter of thrills. Probably pays more but still it's ILLEGAL.
>>>
>>>You're talking the U.S. here, Denis. Betting happens all over the place. Think Las Vegas and the tentacles to/from there. These guys happen to have more $$$ than most, but I gotta guess it's done in the same 'spirit' as me an my $10. bet ***through*** my friend. I have no idea if my friend is connected to the Mob.
>>
>>I'd say that when a friend of the friend of a friend tells you that everything's ok you'll begin to have doubts don't you?
>>
>>I understand that it's a complex topic but still there's something fishy in that case.

>>>I don't think so... this isn't politics after all.
>>>Strangest of all to me is that this is not about gambling on hockey, yet all this fuss. **IF** Mrs. Gretzky knew it was through the Mob, that's one thing, but if not it's a whole other thing.
>>
>>You mean that only politicians should act honorably? If he does'nt step aside then he should take action against those making false assumptions but then again if he does'nt perhaps it's more serious than we think.

>Well I think that politicians and judges in particular have to be like Caesar's wife, without even the **appearance** of impropriety.
>But for the rest of us, we expect to hold on to our jobs until proven guilty.
>And in this particular case it has NOTHING to do with either hockey or more specifically the Olympic team.
>It might be "classy" for him to step aside, but it's also stupid, especially if he is not guilty. 'Cause then everyone would say 'ahhhh. I knew there was more to it and this proves it'.
>
>>
>>Still to step aside would make him even greater. if he's guilty of anything his star will shine a little bit less. Still many would say 'At least he stepped aside'. If he's not guilty of anything people will say 'what a great man. Even though he was not guilty he stepped aside for the well being of his sport and his country'.
>
>Nothing to do with his sport, or his country.

As a general manager of the Canadian team he's not only representing his country but the country's biggest sport. He's not an ordinary individual. He should act like he realize his role.

As an ordinary citizen I don't care what, where, when and how he does whatever he feels like doing. But right now it's not the case.
