To answer your question... the _CLIPTEXT will work in VFP I am sure, but I am also writing a companion routine for a customer in Dexterity (the language of Great Plains). Dex has no such system variable/function but does support DLL calls. The VFP routine will be a valuable example because Dex is a pain to work with. :o)
