Gosh, two different bands entirely, both great. CCR had that bump-bump-a-bumpa, bump-bump-a-bumpa thing going. The Band were more subdued. They were both terrific. Asking me to choose between them would be like asking me to choose between my left arm and my right one.

I guess I just chose. For today, anyway. The music is blasting up from the lower level. Oh, lord, stuck in Lodi again....

>Not that I didn't like CCR, but I was never able to get over the feeling that they were a group who wanted desperately to be 'The Band', and never quite made it.

>I remember going to the 1st "Beggars' Banquet" (a free concert where they served fruit from wading pools) here in Toronto at Varsity Stadium to see, among others, Melanie, Procol Harum, and Poco.

>And going a little further back, there was that great seminal group, 'Buffalo Springfield'.

>>One of my favorite bands from the 70s was Creedence Clearwater Revival. Add to them The Eagles, Pure Praire League, and Poco. Prior to that I was a Moody Blues fanatic...

>>>>>Yeah, we had a band called "Blood, Sweat and Tears" One of their songs lyrics put it very succinctly - "I can swear there ain't no heaven, but I pray there ain't no hell. I'll never know by living, only my dying will tell."

>>>>Grrr, thanks for reminding me of that godawful band. Everyone thinks of the late 60s and early 70s as rock music's nirvana (so to speak). It was, but there sure were also some crapola bands around. BS&T come to mind, as do Chicago and Black Oak Arkansas. Ouch, I just threw my back out remembering Black Oak Arkansas. I actually bought one of their albums! LOL

>>>"Flying Horse over Louisanna" My brother played with those guys some. He was friends with all them and a good friend with Jim Dandy. I liked BS&T and even a few Chicago songs.
