>>Not that I didn't like CCR, but I was never able to get over the feeling that they were a group who wanted desperately to be 'The Band', and never quite made it.

>>I remember going to the 1st "Beggars' Banquet" (a free concert where they served fruit from wading pools) here in Toronto at Varsity Stadium to see, among others, Melanie, Procol Harum, and Poco.

>>And going a little further back, there was that great seminal group, 'Buffalo Springfield'.

>Yeah, there was this guitar player by the name of Stephen Stills who played with them. . . . I think he went on to be a member of one of my very favorite bands - CSNY!
For a band that was only together two years, Buffalo Springfield led to a lot of bands. Not only CSN (and later Y) but also Poco, Loggins and Messina, and Souther-Hillman-Furay. "For What It's Worth" will be listened to for as long as music is played on the radio.
Now that I think of it, I wouldn't be surprised if that song has been mentioned in all the Dick Cheney hoopla --
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
Dick Cheney! LOL
