Some are even downright hostile, telling me that I must be STUPID for not throwing my money into training in the latest "hot" language that comes along this week. The ultimate truth is, while many people out there will always use the latest and greatest, you are right, the Fox is all over the place. Doctor Dave and team made such a good thing that not even "Visualization" could impair it! Eventually I am sure that I will have to learn something else, but not while I am still making money.

>(Kosh, to Sheridan): "You have always been here."

While a student and enjoying life on a limited ale budget at near campus pubs I remember watching the daring exploits of half-tanked frat-boys lured into a hustler's billiard snare. They would cry they missed a shot and faulted a "warped" pool queue. The hustler would challenege: I bet you xxx dollars that I can beat you with a broom stick. The frat-boy's, spoiled in their faulty righteous upper middle class sense of dominion, would usually bite and then loose.

It's not the tool - it's how we use it - and with VFP - we got a big `un! Under-performers would have no place to go if it was for the lure of Redmond shrimp!

I learned this week-end that MS, "newly" minted as a market "maker", thinks the future of will go to programming mobile devices.

People who work all day on computers aint gonna spend their travel or off work time staring at a PDA running some smancy-fancy mobil application - they are going to switch off - just like I do!

The mobil device thing has come and gone (remember Newton?) so many times - it's about as hilarious as MS going up against SONY with the X-Box! Who is making all these decisions at MS? Why is MS risking stock value with loosers! Too much money - not enough brain!

The future of mobile applications is not a PDA - the future of mobile applications is tied to wireless networks where any computer can be a mobile device.

But still - the loosers need a meeting place - they need an agenda - they need a 'word' to chant - let them have it!

There is a foxbase shop here that has hung over 400 terminals under a UNIX platform.

There's something so pure about a text based solution - one is not distracted by "spinning logos" or "flaming logos". One is not distracted at all. People do not want to connect - they want to disconnect - why MS thinks we want to stay plugged in all day is the question!:-)
