Dan,
From
http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=17523&Cr=Guantánamo&Cr1=Bay"The experts voiced regret that the Government did not allow them the opportunity to have free access to detainees in Guantánamo Bay and carry out private interviews, as provided by the terms of reference accepted by all countries they visit. For that reason, in November 2005, they declined a US invitation to visit the centre, they said."
So what would have a visit made clear under these restrcitions? What does the US government have to hide by having those restrictions ?
Walter,
>>Also, there is the recent report by the United Nations, about Guantanamo. According to the U.N., the prisoners are, indeed, tortured. The torturers, of course, deny everything, and try to discredit the U.N.
>
>The UN commission that produced the report didn't even bother to go to Guantanamo, despite an invitation to. Their report relied, instead, on information from former detainees.
