>Already that is not an important issue. Look at index, Mexico at 11 and my country Turkey at 20. Both of them folks are poor.

You're right, GDP isn't everything especially if it doesn't trickle down to the common person. I think this falls into the softer economic issues such as quality of life / distribution of wealth.

Good point as well, brute strength isn't always enough. The 3rd world has learned that if they fight a geurilla style war, they will lose every battle, but can win a war by swaying public opinion. One counter point to this though is that back then the US wasn't he only superpower, and one could argue that the USSR was equal in strength, so that the US couldn't escalate the war in Vietnam without fear of igniting a world war they they might not be able to win. Had they been the only super power, they could have quickly occupied Vietnam ala Afghanistan/Iraq and then would have been left fighting an insurgency. Though with Vietnam the US failed win the hearts and minds of the Vietnamese, mainly (I think) because they were seen as a colonial power, in the same way that Iraqis see the US now.

>Oh. Don't remember blackman. I watched a lot of film. Americans racist yet (Crash -2004).

Hanging on to slavery for so long left the US with a very unique problem regarding race that other developed countries don't have. In my opinion, based on travelling North America, Europe, Asia and Africa that despite black/white racial gulf in the US, it is one of the most accepting countries (I would say in the top 3) of people of different races and cultures.

>I watched a lot of bad film about American prisons (American History X).

I think that American History X is a good file, about a shocking and despressing subject.

I think I know what you are getting at here and it is a good point, the violent crime rate is higher in the US than the other developed countries. Wikipedia says that the murder rate per capita is the US is triple the average of other developed countries. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder

My theory is that this falls into the quality of life section of my orginal post. There is something about US society, that causes violent crime. Perhaps unfair distribution of wealth. Perhaps a social safety net that lets people slip through the cracks and become more desperate.
