It is not only that I want to believe it no longer happens but that I will not assume it happens without evidence. Here is the U.S. citizens are innocent until proven guilty. It is a different way of thinking. That does not mean that we close our eyes and refuse to see what is happening. It simply means that we question everything but do not assume guilt until proven so.
