I have no way to know that. If hardware is faulty it'd be faulty under win98,winXP,... linux etc. OS cannot correct a HW fault (and my number one suspect would be RAM). Likewise drivers if still need to be used from vendor and faulty new OS installation cannpt cure it either (and sometimes it's the newest drivers that is the root of headache).
