Jeez and I thought I>/i> had problems! I suppose it's possible that I've got some c-spine degeneration but, touch wood, I think I'm on the mend now. I've got very good movement in the neck, no crackling. I've been taking 3 * 50 mg Dicoflex per day but they don't seem to have much analgesic effect. But they do help with the inflamation which is the worst problem.
I agree with the moving around and leaving the desk but till recently exercise was a big no-no. Even just walking, the slight swinging of the arm brings on spasm and I need to do a Napolean thing with my bad arm. :-)
I guess I'll have to put a stop to giving my 10- and 6-year-olds shoulder rides and doing circus tricks when I'm better.
Best wishes to you with your problem.
Terry > >I started having similar symptoms fourteen years ago. I was seen by an orthopedic surgeon, a neurologist and a neurosurgeon. I had xrays, CT scans, MRIs and a Myelogram. > >After all my consultations, it was finally determined that I had two different problems. One, was a torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder and the second was a degenerated disc between C5 and C6 (neck). > >The orthopedic surgeon performed arthroscopic surgery on my shoulder and after much painful physical therapy the numbness, tingling, of the arm and fingers, etc. went away. > >Concerning the disc problem, the neurosurgeon said it wasn't bad enough to justify surgery, so for the past fourteen years I've been taking Naproxen (nsaid), 500 mg, twice a day. I also tried three or four epidural injections between the C5-C6. These gave immeditate relief but the relief didn't last more than a couple days. So, at $1500.00/injection, I figured it wasn't worth it. > >I've also tried chiropractic manipulation. Again, I had relief for about thirty minutes. > >The only thing I've found that gives me the most relief from the pain is exercise....sit-ups, push-ups and weights. And.....taking regular breaks from the computer...walk, stretch, etc. > >Hope this helps. > >Dale S.
