>Sheese Walter, do some more research. I am not whining about the things you claim to think that I am. We DO educate our illegal immigrants - I am not complaining about that.

Not sure what you are refering to. I did some research and do know that illegal aliens do receive education.

>I am complaining that they receive their education for free - even sometimes higher education - while the citizens who pay taxes do not.

If you think of your statement a little longer you'll see the difficulty of changing this. If a government says that everyone has the right to education, how can you enforce illegal aliens to pay for it, while there are no records of any income they have. How do you check whether one has money and another not. BTW, you still have a choice not paying a dime, and you're kids still will receive education, but of course the government will find ways to make you pay. This of course different for illegal immigrants because on the record they don't exists.

>I must pay for my daughter's school supplies (required), sometimes school uniforms, and imminuzations as well. Illegals do not.

And probably most of the time cannot. The problem is: how do you know if one is abel to pay or not.

> Also, our tax is not structured like yours is. Only state and municipal taxes are collected from goods and services. The majority of the taxes I pay are not paid when purchasing goods or services (except in the case of gas), but are INCOME taxes.

Ours is not that different. I pay arround 38% income tax.

>Illegal immigrants do not pay income tax unless they illegally work under someone else's social security number or have a green card. Most are paid 'under the table' and pay not taxes at all.

That is the consequence, but you're forgetting to mention that those people work long hours for very little money. Because they are illegal, people are abusing that fact. Not sure what youmean by a green card. Is this a temporary licence? If so, I'd asume that they pay taxes.

>I am an advocate of the FAIR TAX and that is one of the reasons. Illegal immigrants are a large percentage of the crime including stolen vehicles. They are routinely released out on the streets while legal citizens are not. They do receive free medical care, and I do not. I have many friends who work in the medical field and they treat the illegals and provide more medical care to them than they do to those who cannot pay and are a citizen of this country. They complain more than I do. Just as Purdue busses them in, the hospitals treat them. The average citizen probably knows nothing of this. I have been to Europe a number of times and lived in Germany for 3 years. I drove to France, Italy, Spain, and to Holland twice. One of my favorite places as a matter of fact. I am well aware of the lack of border security. You also don't have the equivalent of a 3rd world country on your border with hundreds pouring into your country everyday.

You might be surprised by that. Of course no european country host us much illegal aliens as the US, but thoughout the EU, you might find a lot of them. I've worked with a few some 15 years ago when I was a student. They came from somalia but also people without a working permit from poland, yugoslavia, etc.

>I studied the history of my country and I am very well aware that it was founded by immigrants. The problem is that it cannot hold all of those who wish to come here and we do not have a socialized system that is capable of taking care of them.

Well I agree on your social system: It is lacking a lot. However there is place enough for new immigrants in the US. At least geographically (it hosts less citizens than the eu members combined, on a geographical space of half the size of the US). The US economy is (for a part) build upon immigrants and most economist think that immigrants are key to a succesfull and sustainable economy in the future.

>I was always one of the 'let anyone who wants to come here come' beleivers until 9/11. Now I think we need a more controlled access in order to verify who is here and why.

So you're a forestander of the "Big brother" policy of the current administration?

>It only makes sense. A sad sort of sense, but sense nonetheless. Either that or all of the law abiding citizens emmigrate to another country. Are you accepting Americans over there????

Within certain EU members, you can live where you want to live. For people outside of the EU, you'll have to have a working permit. You'll have to give up your american citizenship and become dutch in order to receive the benefits of our country. BTW, healthcare is not free, you'll have to pay a monthly fee depending on the package and income, but is afordable for anyone, so everyone is covered.

>I doubt I could just arrive and get a job and a place to live, free schooling, and medical treatment for free, right?

Of course this a certain process, but if you've got a job up here and be prepared to give up american citizenships, yes you can. You can also take the short route, just get married with a dutch man, don't divorce for a few years and you're a dutch citizen.
