no syntax changes. any code in 2.x will work in 3 and 5. you may find an occasional form that doesn't convert neatly, but 99% will. this option may be acceptable by giving clients [essentially] the same system.

system should be redesigned to take advantage of OOP features and database containers (automatic RI, etc.)
